Welcome to the third installment of our playtime mini-series!

Keeping your dog’s mind active is just as important as keeping their body moving. Mental enrichment prevents boredom, reduces anxiety, and helps your pup feel fulfilled. Luckily, brain games don’t have to be complicated—or expensive!
Here are some of the best ways to stimulate your dog’s mind:
🧩 Puzzle Toys You Can Buy
KONG Classic – Fill with peanut butter, kibble, or frozen treats for hours of fun.
Snuffle Mats – Dogs love “hunting” for kibble hidden among fabric strips.
Interactive Puzzle Feeders – Your dog will need to slide, lift, or nudge pieces to uncover treats.
The Pupsicle by Woof – Enriching fun in a refillable treat-based toy with pre-made refills or DIY flavor mixes your pup will love!
🏡 DIY Brain Games at Home
Muffin Tin Game – Place treats in a muffin tin and cover with tennis balls. Your pup has to figure out how to move them to get the prize!
Towel Roll-Up – Roll treats inside a towel and let your dog unroll it to find rewards.
Scent Work – Great for breeds that have a strong hunting instinct! Start with something easy like a treat or kibble. Let your dog smell the treat and while they're restricted in a bathroom or somewhere they can't see you, hide the treat. Keep the treat hidden at nose-level until your dog "graduates" to more difficult hiding spots!
💡 Tips for Success
Start easy, then increase difficulty.
Use your dog’s regular kibble if you don’t want to overdo treats.
Supervise the first few times to keep it safe and fun.

Why Brain Games Matter to Grey Matter
Dogs are natural problem-solvers. Engaging their brains boosts confidence, reduces stress, and strengthens the bond you share. These games are wonderful ways to engage your dog's natural instincts in ways that are productive and rewarding which can reduce more destructive behaviors like chewing or digging. Just 10–15 minutes of brain work can tire out your dog as much as a long walk!
Stay tuned for the last two installments in our 5-part mini-series on fun and playtime! Every Wednesday and Friday through the end of August!
